Great location in the heart of Sherman Oaks, hence why it's a staple here in this part of the valley. I've been here a few times over the years because of the location convenience, but the food here shouldn't be missed. They're known for their crunch French toast, complete with French berries and a vanilla glaze. But this time I opted for their shakshuka and brunch carbonara. Both dishes came with poached eggs, perfect for brunch. Washed it all down with a dirty matcha with oat milk. The food hasn't changed over the years and hence you can trust that the recipes are tried and true. They have a big outside patio that stretches around the restaurant so finding a seat usually isn't a problem. My only vice is they haven't moved past the COVID service as the waitress only comes over to explain the menu and provide cutlery. It's the seemly popular (most people I know still prefer in-person ordering) QR code and order your food from the website. Doesn't make the wait staff less attentive. We've been checked on for refills on water and bussed regularly. Doesn't mean I wouldn't come back tho. For those who do prefer to order in person, you're still able to walk into the restaurant and order to send to your table. The choice is yours!
We were a party of 4 and when the meal was over, we turned to each other and all said: "That was delicious!" You order on your phone and the food comes out super fast. I ordered the Oatmeal and it was creamy and covered in luscious berries. The star of the show was the Matcha Rose Latte (with rose petals floating on top). It was off-the-charts delicious! Best Latte ever!
This was a super chill dining experience. I was worreid about having to wait a long time, but you were able to virtually get in line before arrival, which was so awesome. The menu was available through a QR code on the table. You also place your order and pay through your phone before your food starts coming out. After that, the service is quick. Our party got the crunchy french toast, churro french toast, eggs benedict, and various coffee drinks. All were hits! Will definitely come back :)
2nd time here and had an even better experience! First, want to thank the Manager Jeff for making sure we had an overall better experience this time around. Jeff, along with the other hostesses were very welcoming when we walked in and attentive throughout our time there. Prefer to sit outside, it feels more open and even though you're outdoors there's not a whole bugs or anything thankfully. We had the breakfast burrito, brunch burger, and of course their crunchy French toast. Everything was delicious. I'm always weary of breakfast burritos because I feel like some place but too much or too little of something but the crunchy be I had was so good. The potatoes were really good as well and I will always recommend the French toast - so good! Definitely recommend this location and will be back.
We had Sunday brunch here, there was no wait time and we were seated immediately. The service was fast, and the brunch was good, The chicken taco was marinated perfectly, the blue jam Benedict was also good, the potatoes on the side was lacking taste, maybe some salt would have added to the taste. The iced coffee seemed very sweet to me. The ginger shots were good.
"We're Jammin!" Blu Jam Cafe... "I wanna jam it wid you." This breakfast, brunch and lunch time fav, is a small chain in Los Angeles with seven locations, including their flagship in the Melrose/Hollywood/West Hollywood area. Sherman Oaks is my local for takeout/delivery and dining in [which included outside or in... gorgeous patio space in the front as well as more to the side and in back]... You can seat yourself and order at the front or via phone courtesy QR... The future is now! Having had most of their veggie friendly options on the menu. I opted in for the Vegan Wrap on the lunch menu from brunch breakfast. The Vegan Tofu Tostada, Spicy Vegan Tex Mex Tofu Hash and various vegan possible things [including coffee with almond or oat milk]... Unfortunately the S.O. location located on Ventura Blvd/Noble Avenue between Sepulveda and Kester... street parking mostly... Doesn't serve adult beverages like a lot of their other locations, but you don't need a stiff drink to enjoy enjoy a great meal here. The flavors for all the food is stellar! My new friend Rich raved about the Crunchy French Toast with vanilla bean sauce for syrup and his boyfriend (an old friend celebrating his birthday weekend), Art enjoyed his Simply Eggs combo. He wasn't crazy for the potatoes, but Rich and I loved them! The food blends well together. The service was great though you don't have an actual set server. They bring you your food and things you needs. A cafe of mint lemon water that's crazy refreshing, but then you're pretty set. Lots of classic essentials on the table [pepper, salt, ketchup, hot sauce, etc] and you get lots of napkins + utensils cleaned and sealed in a recycled paper material bag. Music is causal and familiar, nods to old jazz, blues, r&b, pop and modern throughout, was great to eat, enjoy and vibe out. We saw who I think is the manager and/or owner working his magic throughout in a cool Lakers cap in a casual but stylish fit. He seemed really friendly handing out nods and smiles to all enjoying their meal. A pretty decent deal for three meals, coffees, plus tip [a little over $80] which you do before you receive anything is very coffee shop or food of convenience... I know it can seem a little off beat for a restaurant cafe, but I gotta say BJC does it in a very special way. Q Tip: Check in and get a complimentary free ginger shot! They also offering catering and events.
A Sherman Oaks gem. First, it has a gigantic seating capacity. Probably very help during the weekends because even on a Tuesday morning it was half packed. Parking is readily available (street, meter), nice walking route too. We were looking for easy no-fuss breakfast options and this place popped up. The ambience is great, everything is very cute and cozy, every staff member we came across was incredibly friendly and inviting. Hats off to Jeff who just made my morning. He was joking around, checked on us constantly (even though they don't have wait staff, you order your food at the counter or online) and just left me feeling so welcome and warm! The online ordering experience was great. They had a picture for EVERY dish in the menu and detailed description, various choices and very generous portions. Thank you!!
I was super excited to check out this location because I just love the WeHo one! Seems like this location is a bit bigger but the service was superb! We came on a Friday morning and there was no wait to get us seated. The waiter we had was super attentive and hilarious! I wish I remembered his name but he had a killer stash to match his personality! The food was delicious as always! However some of my friends were thrown off with the fact that the French toast doesn't come with syrup. That's not a deal breaker for me but if it's important to you BYOS cuz even if you request it, they don't have it. (Which is a little odd). Other than that the drinks were also on point! If you check in through Yelp you get a free ginger shot so we were quick to claim that. I'll definitely be coming back again and again!
I was a bit disappointed today. I have been craving their huevos rancheros for months, but because of how crowded they get and their lack of parking, I haven't had time to come. I finally had some time to come today and was so looking forward to having the huevos rancheros. Unfortunately, I was completely disappointed. The food came out completely cold. The avocado was underripe. My friend and I ordered the exact same thing. The inconsistency of the amount of potatoes we each got was ridiculous. He got almost double the amount I got for the exact same price. The service was great but totally underwhelmed with the quality of food, and quite surprised because it's one of my favorite breakfast items. I would have complained but I was parked at the meter and didn't have enough time to wait for them to remake it. At least I won't be craving it now. UPDATE: in response to my Yelp review, the manager Jeff, responded to me and invited my friend and I back for a free meal to make up for our previous experience. We took him up on that offer and came this afternoon. Glad we did. Jeff reserved a table for us. We re-ordered the exact same thing, my favorite thing on the menu, huevos rancheros. It was absolutely delicious. Everything was fresh. The potatoes were nice and hot. The avocado was soft. Eggs perfectly prepared and, as always, service impeccable. Jeff, thank you for making it right. You went above and beyond my expectations. Hands down, still one of my favorite breakfast places. If you haven't tried the huevos rancheros, you really need to. Be warned, it's addicting and portion is huge. Well worth the cost.
Provender: this is an amazing restaurant if you enjoy breakfast. I ordered food to go, and the service was excellent. I ordered the two egg breakfast, which was delicious. Prices: reasonable for a Ventura Blvd. restaurant. The two egg breakfast will run you about $16 (with sausage). Parking: they have limited paid meters on Ventura. They also have a parking lot, behind the alley. People: fun for all, but geared towards adults. Perks: this is a cashless store, so don't forget your credit cards. Food was delicious, and they also serve hot/cold coffee and other beverages. I think they also accommodate for private parties and off platters.
